Building your home business around your music can truly be a costly one.

That is what we are doing isn’t it?
Your music is your product and
we need sell more of that product online.

I build this blog and am writing this post to let you know that there is absolutely a way to do that without spending every dollar you have on advertising.

Each time you turn around it seems like you are just not getting ahead in your business.

It basically will nickel and dime you to death.

You really can’t get ahead if you have to spend a ton on advertising, especially when you are first starting out.

And, speaking id a “ton on advertising” …more often then not there is not much money to loose.

There is no major start up budget.  What if you only have $500?  Not $500 for the next 3 months or 6 months.  $500 total.  You decide what to spend it on, and it is gone.

Wouldn’t it be nice if someone could show you basically step by step how you can build your home business without spending a ton of money while doing it?

Well, there is some good news.

I recently came across something that I think will really help your business as it has mine.

It is a videos series by a guy named Mike Dillard called “Building On A Budget”.

In these videos Mike shows you how to build any home business for $500 or less.

Here is a quick note on the word “any”. You are in the Home Based Business – Network Marketing – Direct Sales Arena.   No matter how much you want to deny it.

Welcome. :)

I took these free videos and purchased his ridiculously low priced book, and within two weeks of applying the techniques he teaches and am now getting as many as 10 new qualified prospects per day.

The best part is that I did not spend much money while doing it.

Now I have the tools to grow my business without getting nickel and dimed to death.

You can get free access to these videos and build your own Music Business Plan by going here…

Enjoy your new found wealth,

I’m a Rapper – Why do I need an Auto Responder?

Growing up in NYC I remember being in the clubs watching the hot girl with the clip board walk around adding names to the Mailing List. She would work the bar, work the line outside, and even bust a move and the dance floor while she filled up her list. And the artists loved her for it.

At the end of the night they had a list of highly targeted leads. Leads that have already been exposed to the product are interested in what you put out, are actively looking for more.

Building you List the absolute foundation of Network Marketing, and you have been doing it for years.

The concept is there: these people are interested in me and I want to be able to reach them and keep in touch. I am here to show you how to take that one step further and turn you list into CASH MONEY.

Street Teams are the dinosaurs of Hip-Hop.
The text you send on the way to the club or the email you send leading up the event is going to make MORE of an Impact, stay in my phone longer than any flyer you hand me, no matter how big the boobs or how juicy the booty. At the end of the night there are more flyers in the street that with your people.

An Email Auto Responder is the equivalent of your Street Team. Each time someone subscribes to your list they will receive an automatic response to that request, welcoming them in to you list.

You then create a list of emails to be sent out to this list every few days. Intersperse those messages with Broadcast messages that you have written about current or upcoming events. It the average person needs to be exposed 6 or 7 times before they make a purchase. You do this with each email automatically 24/7, while you are asleep, or in the booth, or on stage.

What am I going to write about?
Are you serious? The average rap song has over 350 words, 10 catch phrases, 40 headlines and 3 concepts. Take a look back over your music and find topics of value. How many of your songs mention your past? How rough it was growing up and how much you knew things had to get better. That is the most universally marketable story in the world.

Everyone struggles and you found a way out. You are a leader. You provide value.
By using tolls like this to leverage the power of the internet your fan base will explode. Fans will be waiting for your emails so they can learn more about you. This is the key to building an online presence.

AWeber - Email Marketing Made Easy
Aweber is a great Auto responder and also the one I use. It’s is pretty much the standard. There is a small monthly fee but for the options and accessibility you are getting a deal. Other cheaper or free auto responders have some string attached….attached to ads and whole other junk that slows you down.

We need to keep operations streamlined, keep you focused. There is no time to waste. I want you making the most of every minute you spend online. In social media or working on your blog you need to get into a routine of Money Making Habits. Updating and sending broadcast messages to your list is an awesome way to spend time online, and work that writing muscle, instead of so much WorldStar. (no disrespect :) )

I found this interview and the reason I am posting it here is because at the very last question 50 explains one of the legendary Jim Rohn’s Fundamental Principles.

Your Success in the marketplace is determined by the Value You bring to the marketplace.

XXL: Do you see yourself ever opening the doors again for G-Unit, where you’ll bring in outside acts again, like you did with M.O.P., Mase, and Mobb Deep?

50 Cent: Yeah, I’m getting ready to bring in a whole batch of new artists.

XXL: New artists, or just guys who will be new to G-Unit?

50 Cent: New talent—I’m excited. My parameters will be different on what I do to support the actual artists, but as far as artist development and grooming them to the point when I feel they’re ready, that’ll be excellent. I’m excited about it, because I don’t feel like I’ll ever be as big as I want to be based off my own success. It’ll be based on my success and the success of others around me. I’ll provide those opportunities again. Like, Em can go home all the time and just chill. Not bother working, but I’m still here, and if he decides not to travel, I’m out there. I make [moves] everywhere, so it creates something that they can make reference to as why they’d have that interest.

Online Music Marketing Strategy

Donnel Jones

Singersroom: What’s your plan for social networking and becoming more interactive?

Donell Jones: I’m throwing myself in it whole heartedly man. It’s the new thing. I mean you can connect with your fans and be one-on-one.

It wasn’t like this like ten years ago when I first came out. When I first came out, you had to send in your fan mail and now you can talk to your fans directly; you can even do a video chat.

It’s crazy how technology has changed but it’s the best thing for music right now.

I think for a lot of people in my position going independent, it’s going to help in a major way because not only is the music business suffering a lot, the record labels are really killing themselves because they are letting go of a lot of  great artists right now.

It’s almost like they don’t know what they’re doing…like they don’t understand the internet. This is a big marketing tool and they are still going off the old ways they ran business.

Singersroom: Yeah man…I always wondered why these labels don’t create music portals for themselves internally.

Donell Jones: Exactly…I be thinking about how would you let iTunes come in and make a music store and you haven’t thought about doing it yourself. That to me doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

They didn’t think about it and somebody else jumped on it. I guess this is why the deals that they are giving up right now are 360 deals.

I think that’s kind of terrible.

A lot of these artists really make their money from going on the road and now they want a piece of your shows.

So it’s like, is it really worth it being an artist on a label?

I mean they have the money to back you as an artist but at the same token you’re never going to make anything because they are going to pad the books so bad that you are always going to be in the red.

Singersroom: So what advice do you have for a new artist that is approached by one of these deals?

Donell Jones: It depends on how much money they are putting on the table. I mean I gotta look at it like this, some of these guys never had money before and the type of money they might give out probably could help someone’s family. Sometimes you have to take it, but as far as a person in my position, I wouldn’t take it.

If you already have a fan base and you know how to connect with your fan base, it makes no sense to go get a record deal, not unless they are putting up a hell of a lot of money (laughter).
